Intermediate Mass Stars: Updated Models
نویسندگان
چکیده
A new set of stellar models in the mass range 1.2 to 9 M⊙ is presented. The adopted chemical compositions cover the typical galactic values, namely 0.0001 ≤ Z ≤ 0.02 and 0.23 ≤ Y ≤ 0.28. A comparison among the most recent compilations of similar stellar models is also discussed. The main conclusion is that the differencies among the various evolutionary results are still rather large. For example, we found that the H-burning evolutionary time may differ up to 20 %. An even larger disagreement is found for the He-burning phase (up to 40-50 %). Since the connection between the various input physics and the numerical algorithms could amplify or counterbalance the effect of a single ingredient on the resulting stellar model, the origin of this discrepancies is not evident. However most of these discrepancies, which are clearly found in the evolutionary tracks, are reduced on the isochrones. By means of our updated models we show that the ages inferred by the theory of stellar evolution is in excellent agreement with those obtained by using other independent methods applied to the nearby Open Clusters. Finally, the theoretical initial/final mass relation is revised. Subject headings: stars: evolution – stars: intermediate mass – open clusters: general

Evolution and Yields of Extremely Metal Poor Intermediate Mass Stars
Intermediate mass stellar evolution tracks from the main sequence to the tip of the AGB for five initial masses (2 to 6M⊙) and metallicity Z=0.0001 have been computed. The detailed 1D structure and evolution models include exponential overshooting, mass loss and a detailed nucleosynthesis network with updated nuclear reaction rates. The network includes a two-particle heavy neutron sink for app...

The linear adiabatic pulsation-periods of Mira variable stars have been derived. Approximately 2701[1]models were calculated for M = 0.7 MΘ to 2 MΘ stars with radii from 180 RΘ to 340 RΘ and luminosities from 2800 LΘ to 10,000 LΘ. The chemical composition of all models is (X,Z) = (0.7,0.02). From the result of this study, linear relations on Luminosity-Period-Mass relationship and luminosity-pe...
متن کاملInfluence of two updated nuclear reaction rates on the evolution of low and intermediate mass stars
Two key reactions of hydrostatic nuclear burning in stars have recently been revised by new experimental data – the N(p, γ)O and 3α reaction rates. We investigate how much the new rates influence the evolution of low-mass, metal-poor and metal-free, stars and of an intermediate-mass star of solar-type composition. We concentrate on phases of helium ignition or thermally unstable helium burning....
متن کاملEvidence for Rotation-induced Mixing in Evolved Intermediate Mass Stars
Many observational results seem to indicate more efficient mixing processes in intermediate mass stars (520 M⊙) than the expected by the standard models. These processes are usually thought to be caused by stellar rotation. Our recent analysis of 19 evolved intermediate mass stars has found them to display different efficiencies of internal mixing. The comparison of these results, and others fr...
